Hmmm - maybe I'm not too much into embracing change...I guess it could be considered more like flirting with it.
Whatever! No matter what, I've got to get ready for some BIG changes! The job I've had for 10 years is drawing to a close as the company is moving out of state. The job I had prior to that was one I'd had for 15 years. I tend to remain in the same place for a while, I guess.
The last time I had to job search was 10 years ago! I was a 30 something. Now, I'm a "hey, she's almost 50" kind of candidate. (I do know how to use a computer, so don't picture me as still pecking on a manual typewriter here.) I'm more concerned about how attractive I am as a potential employee this time. Yes, folks my age tend to take their jobs more seriously than the typical high schooler who's just looking for a summer job, but we also lean toward hoping for more than just minimum wage. Which is more important to companies now? Reliable or cheap labor?
Do you have any job search stories? Successes? Learning experiences? I'd love to hear them.
Wish me luck - I'm gonna need it!
