This is going to be a gorgeous week! The first dry week that we've had now for about 79 weeks in a row (not really, but it's been a long, long time). The temperatures are going to be in the 70's and 80's all week, which is just beautiful weather for FINALLY getting out in the garden!
I could happily play in the dirt for most of the daylight hours, but the mortgage folks are hesitant about accepting squash or cucumbers or bunnies in barter for the mortgage payment. So, I work outside the home.
My job is one I enjoy going to each day and there's a lot to be said for that, but I also long to be outside doing what I want - so said millions of other folks on the earth. I'm glad that I can glance up from my desk and drink in the view of the green grass and trees. The front door is my "window" outside from where I sit when doing computer work.
Today, I can see the heat rising from the pavement, wrinkling the air above it. It's not quite hot enough to be the humid, breath-sucking heat of July in the South, but a warmer, gentle heat. The trees and vines surrounding the sinkholes of the field across from the building I'm in have donned the lushness of Spring once again. (Sinkholes are common in my area due to the cave system present here - did you read about the Corvettes swallowed up by one? Most are just in open fields - few cause enough damage to make national/international news.)
Butterflies are flitting about, visiting the wildflowers that have opened their blossoms. It sends me back to my childhood and I have an overwhelming urge to abandon my shoes and head out there.
Why doesn't my boss understand?
What do you see when you look outside today, whether it's from home or from work?
